Highschool of the Dead is set in present-day Japan, beginning as the world is struck by a deadly pandemic that turns humans into zombies, euphemistically referred to by the main characters as "Them." The story follows a group of high school students and the school's nurse as they deal with the worldwide catastrophic event known as the "Outbreak". It’s easy to jump in at any point and not get too lost, which means it even better. The structure of the anime itself as an anthology makes it very attractive for viewers.It triumphed over hardship and overall, made for a critically acclaimed anime. Pet Shop of Horrors didn’t have a huge budget, and it seemed as if the world was against it.Not only that, but there still manages to be great messages behind them despite the context. The anime has an interesting and unique premise, with a fresh, original story befalling our main character.The stories are great, the characters really well developed and written, and I generally enjoyed the uniqueness of the concept. Plus, the aspect of using the term “pet shop” for something less than a place for cuddly animals really caught my attention. This anime was particularly interesting to me because of the way it’s set up anthology style.

As the series progresses, he learns more about the pet shop and D himself, entering into a strange friendship of sorts with D as he works to uncover the truth.
